Regional Employer Support Payment

Applications are open for the "Back to Work - Employer Support boost payments of up to $20,000".

Businesses that have employed a new staff member or are looking to recruit a new employee may be eligible to access payments of up to $15,000 through the Queensland Government's Back to Work regional employment package which has been available since 1 July 2016.

The standard Back to Work Employer Support Payment is specifically targeted for regional Queensland businesses which is a $100 million initiative over 2 years encouraging 8,000 employment opportunities across regional Queensland.

This funding ranges between $7,500 to $20,000 for employers. The unemployed jobseeker must:

  • have been unemployed for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to commencement;
  • be a Queensland resident;
  • be employed Permanent Part-time or Permanent Full-time (with entitlements).

 YOUTH BOOST has been introduced to encourage employment of a younger jobseekers: The jobseeker must:

  • must meet the criteria above;
  • between 15-24 years of age to be employed;
  • have commenced in employment from 1 December 2016 to 31 October 2017;

          Permanent Part-time:               $15,000 (over the 12 months of employment)

          Permanent Full-time:                $20,000 (over the 12 months of employment)

The no strings attached Employer Support Payment has been introduced to give employers the confidence to employ additional employees and support Queensland's regions. The application is an online process that takes approximately 20 minutes to apply.
